Am gasit o chestie simpatica aici, luata de aici. Se pare ca LibraryThing.com are o lista cu „the 106 most unread books” (nu „unreadable„, cum spun oamenii la care am gasit lista).

Extrem de tare si incredibil de aproape, a doua carte a lui Jonathan Safran Foer, e in primul rand o carte frumoasa: Humanitas a facut o treaba minunata, adaptand coperta primei editii a cartii si imaginile, colajele si experimentele tipografice ale autorului. Rezultatul e un obiect cu forma de carte si cu o poveste, care provoaca sensibilitatea, gandirea si intuitia cititorilor-spectatori.

Eroul cartii este Oskar Schell, un baietel de noua ani extrem de inteligent, bine educat si foarte sensibil. Oskar mai e si vegetarian, pacifist, multilingv, cinstit si interesat de stiinta, si canta la tamburina. El ramane orfan dupa 11 septembrie 2001. Tatal sau isi avea biroul in World Trade Center. Descopera printre obiectele ramase de la tatal sau o cheie, intr-un plic pe care scria doar „Black”, si incepe o cautare a incuietorii potrivite, incercand sa inteleaga mai multe despre tatal sau. O poveste paralela este cea a bunicilor lui Oskar, marcati si ei de un eveniment traumatic, bombardarea la sfarsitul celui de-al doilea razboi mondial a orasului german Dresda.

Este o carte sensibila, care vorbeste despre urmarile unor evenimente oribile, descriind tristetea, vinovatia si debusolarea supravietuitorilor fara a caricaturiza si fara a folosi cisterne de lacrimi. Este o carte despre viata, care te intristeaza pentru ca apoi sa iti insufle speranta sau sa te faca sa razi. Jonathan Safran Foer creaza personaje vii, umane, cu o poveste interesanta. Cel mai bun lucru este ca povestea nu e tot, cartea e plina de detalii si informatii dispensabile dar fermecatoare, pentru ca Oskar e interesat de tot ceea ce exista in jurul sau.

Jonathan Safran Foer este in mod cert un scriitor bun. Ii place sa povesteasca si detine empatia necesara pentru a intelege oamenii si talentul de a scrie despre ei. Cartii i se pot aduce obiectii – cea mai importanta mi se pare aceea ca, mai ales la inceput, cititorul trebuie sa isi suspende momentan neincrederea in capacitatile unui copil de noua ani. Dar neincrederea de la inceput se transforma cumva in intelegere. E o carte care iti place cel mai mult atunci cand ai terminat-o, si, in acelasi timp, o colectie de lucruri frumoase si uimitoare, spuse cu onestitate si intelegere.
